1.Oil percentage in field crops:

  • Coconut: 60%
  • Sesame: 46-52%
  • Ground nut: 44-50%
  • Castor: 35-58%
  • Safflower: 24-36%
  • Rape seed and mustard: 33%
  • Soybean: 20%

2.Protein content in cereals:

  • Rice: 6-7%
  • Wheat: 11-12% (Gluten’ protein)
  • Maize: 10%
  • Sorghum: 10-12%
  • Bajra: 11-12%
  • Barley: 11.5% (Albuminoids)

3.Protein content in pulses:

  • Gram: 21.1%
  • Lentil: 25%
  • Pea: 22.5%
  • Arhar: 21-25%
  •  Moong: 25%
  • Urd: 24%
  • Cow pea: 23.4% (Known as vegetable meat).

4.Protein content in oilseeds:

  • Soybean: 42%
