Unit-1
Indian Agriculture: . Indian Agriculture Economy, Importance of agriculture in national economy. Production of major cereal crops, vegetable crops, fruits and their importance in human diet. Major soils of India, essential plant nutrients, their role, deficiency symptoms and sources. Pests and diseases of major crops, vegetables, fruits and their
management. Forestry production, pests and diseases management of major trees grown in India. Sericulture in India, Plantation crops in India. Place of Agriculture in Indian Economy, Contribution to GDP and National Income. Role of Agriculture in Economic Development in India. Agricultural Productivity and cropping pattern – farm size and productivity, efficiency in agriculture, Green Revolution.
Unit-2:
Farm Production & Management: Farm Equipments and Farm Machinery in India, sources of energy and power on farms. Irrigation and drainage systems. Basics of postharvest technology, Basics of energy in agriculture. Production Management – Agri Inputs, Agricultural Credit, Rural Technology in Agriculture, Farm Management in India. Dryland Agriculture & Technology.
Unit-3:
Quantitative Ability: Test the ability of candidates to make mathematical calculations under stress conditions. All these calculations will be based on analytical skills of the candidates with understanding of mathematics at Intermediate level.
Unit-4: Communicative Ability: Test English comprehension wherein the knowledge of language skills are tested as to how effectively the candidate communicates his thoughts and ideas.
Unit-5: Research Methods: Types of Research, Importance and scope. Sampling – Types of sample, Merits and demerits of each methods of sampling. Quantitative Techniques in Research, Collection and Analysis of Data, Report Writing.
UNIT-6: Logical Reasoning: Evaluating logical thinking capacity by providing various options.
Unit – 7:
Agribusiness Management –Scope of Agribusiness, importance for developing countries, Agribusiness Management – Nature and scope and functions. Agribusiness input and output services, agricultural credit and foreign trade, Planning and organizing Business – Importance of small agribusiness, Indian Agribusiness Environment and IT in Agribusiness.
Unit – 8:
Marketing Institutions in Agribusiness: Parastatals in Agribusiness, Commodity Boards, Directorate of Marketing and Inspection, Export Agencies, WTO & its functions, , APEDA, MNC’s etc.
Unit – 9:
Entrepreneurship in agribusiness: analyzing agribusiness venture, preparing a business plan. Contract farming – Types and Scope of contract farming, Working of Contracts, Contract Models – Backward and forward linkages. Agri-Export Zone, Agribusiness Projects.
UNIT-10:
Agricultural Marketing: Scope, importance and concepts. Growth and Development of Regulated Markets in India. Market Structure, conduct and performance. Marketing functions – Grading, Storage, and Transport, Packaging.
